At MojoFeet, we use only the highest quality materials in every orthotic we make. Every material we use is selected based on its contributions to the creation of an orthotic that is strong, flexible, durable, comfortable, and most importantly – effective at correcting foot problems. Below is a list of some of the common materials we use when creating our orthotics.

Core Material Options

High-Density, High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene

All of our orthotic cores are made using high-density, high-molecular-weight polyethylene. This type of plastic is easy to work with, allows for consistency in the production or orthotics, and is available in multiple thicknesses. It is strong, durable, lightweight and its properties allow us to mold and tune an orthotic to a precise degree of flexibility. This flexibility is key for creating orthotics that move to ensure the feet of the person using them maintain the corrective position while they walk, run or stand.

Covering Material Options

High-Rebound (EVA) Foam

The material that covers the top of the core plays a key role in the functioning of the orthotic. We use EVA foam for its softness, flexibility and rubber-like qualities to create orthotics that are designed for optimum shock absorption and proper rebound. Orthotics made with EVA are comfortable, and also tough and durable, so they will be sure to last through repeated use.

Ultrasuede®

Ultrasuede is one of our most popular orthotic coverings. A synthetic suede, Ultrasuede is designed to last, with a low-coefficient of friction and a comfortable feel. Ultrasuede coverings are great for both athletes and casual wearers. It is highly durable, lightweight, soft to the touch, can be washed with dish soap and water for easy cleaning (do not submerge the orthotic), and comes in blue and black.

D3O® Smart Foam

D3O smart foam is a revolutionary product that changes its behavior based on the speed with which you apply pressure to it. For example, when standing, D3O foam is softer and more forgiving, however, when you run or move quickly on it, it returns the energy to the foot. D3O foam is durable, lightweight, and used to create products in a range of industries, including sports equipment, electronics, industrial clothing, and of course, custom orthotics.

BioSkin™

BioSkin is a remarkable material. It is a slick, smooth material that prevents friction and provides a leatherlike feel. The material is infused with silver ions, inhibiting the growth of bacteria, which helps to limit the orthotic from becoming odorous. BioSkin is thin, breathable, lightweight, stretchable, durable, and mimics the body’s natural climate control system, maximizing comfort. BioSkin is also hypoallergenic, so it can be worn by anyone.

Cordura®

Cordura is our most durable orthotic covering and is designed to withstand anything you can throw at it. A ballistic nylon, Cordura is a tough, rugged, canvas-type material we use on the bottom of our orthotics as a default to ensure their durability and longevity. We offer Cordura as an option for the top of the orthotic as well, but most people prefer a softer material.
